Does anyone know anything about tranny's?

Not sure if you guys can help or not but I am having a problem and can't figure it out.. Since we all have tranny's and we work on our cars I figured someone may have an idea..

Problem....

Less than 20k ago I put in an Exedy clutch and had the stock flywheel resurfaced. Recently the clutch isn't grabbing until it's almost all the way out and it slips like a mother. The transmission has also developed a whine under acceleration and it chatters under acceleration or decceleration. If I push the clutch in that chatter goes away.

Could my clutch be bad already? I still have pretty good pressure in the pedal but it slips like mad. Last weekend I replaced the release bearing and also the pilot bearing but it did not fix the problem.

Someone mentioned that when the stock flywheel was resurfaced that they might have taken to much off and over time the clutch disk has wore down and now it's not engaging or disengaging correctly.

I have tried adjusting the pedal under the dash. If I turn the shaft in so it pushes the pedal out it makes the noises go away but the clutch slips worse. I have also bled the line and have all new fluid in there.

If the flywheel was not turned properly, and the step that the pressure plate bolts to was not reduced/machined by the same amount, the pressure plate will not be exerting the same amount of pressure on the clutch disc as necessary for full engagement of the clutch, allowing it to slip under load.

has this been the problem from the start, or has the transmission worked fine until recently? If this has been a problem ever since the flywheel has been turned then the problem could be what jaker mentioned. However, if the problem didnt occur right away, it is possible that the flywheel was turned down too much, or it just has had enough, and has warped causing the clutch not to seat completely on the flywheel.

The problem has just recently started. The noise I found today can't be called chatter since I was told that is a jerking motion from the flywheel and clutch coming together. I don't see how the clutch or flywheel could cause the transmission to whine either. I took it to a tranny shop today and he told me it sounds like a bearing in the tranny. So I guess I will have to take the tranny out and take it somewhere to have it looked at.

The most common cause will be the imput shaft bearings. Examine it closely when disassembled to see if I am right. I am currently replacing one in my trans as we speak
